Amanda Allard Photography 2011 Rewind

I know it’s almost March, but it’s never too late for a little love.  A big beautiful thank you to my amazing 2011 clients!  I traveled through 5 states to snap this year’s round up…and enjoyed every minute capturing these wonderful moments.

She Said Yes: Bob & Kelly

A week ago I returned home from shooting my first wedding of 2012!  Some of you might remember Kelly & Bob from their Duluth engagement session last summer.  I love this couple to pieces!  Despite some unexpected changes to their wedding plans (no snow in Fargo…in January…GASP!),  we had a wonderful time capturing their big day.  While I would’ve loved to have snapped a few pics of Bob riding up to the church on his snowmobile, I must say it was rather nice not being buried up to our knees in snow for outdoor photos.  I mean let’s face it…38 degrees in January is downright balmy by North Dakota standards!  And I couldn’t have asked for better surroundings at Moorhead’s Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd…bright walls and a prairie view that went on forever made the pre-ceremony photos easy and accessible!  After the ceremony, we loaded onto the Fargo Trolley and made a pit stop at the Depot to capture a few photos of the wedding party at dusk!  However, my favorite part of the day was seeing all of the wonderful and creative touches that Kelly had prepared for their reception at the Fargo Holiday Inn.  Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Leiseth!  Wishing you much happiness in the years ahead.

She Said Yes! Lee + Michelle

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of traveling back to my hometown of Fargo, ND to capture the wedding of one of my oldest childhood friends.  Some of you may remember Lee & Michelle from their April engagement session.  I was so thrilled that these two had a beautiful day for their wedding!  Lee & Michelle agreed to brave the summer heat so we could capture a few outdoor photos of them prior to their ceremony.  (You guys were such troopers!  That goes for your wedding party too!)  We kicked things off at Trollwood Park, where Lee spent much of his youth riding around on his big wheel and exploring the banks of the Red River.  The park hasn’t changed much in the past 25 years…so it was fun to use the grounds and a few of the park’s colorful buildings as backdrops.

After we captured their outdoor portraits, we made our way to Hope Lutheran Church (North Campus) for their ceremony.  It had been years since I’d been in the church’s sanctuary.  It is such a stunning backdrop for a wedding.

After saying their “I do’s”, we threw on our dancing shoes and headed downtown to the Radisson.  Lee & Michelle, every last detail at your reception was absolute perfection!  It was truly an honor to capture your wedding day.  Here’s to Mr. & Mrs. Rieniets…(wait that’s what I used to call your parents, Lee)…wishing the two of you many years of wedded bliss together.

P.S.  Many thanks to my Midwest Assistant, Jeannette!  She did a wonderful job helping me at my last three weddings!  Couldn’t have done it without you, Mom!

Playdate: Lucy, Jasper & Oliver

I love shooting in my hometown!  I traveled back to Fargo the last week of July for a wedding (which I will be posting soon), and was beyond thrilled that I was able to fit this family session in during my short stay.  Fellow Spartans…you should recognize the Mama of this beautiful family!  Molly and I played softball, soccer, volleyball and basketball together throughout Junior High and High School.  And I must say, unlike me, she hasn’t aged a bit since 1996!  Molly and her husband, Josh, have three of the most photogenic children I’ve ever worked with.  (One of which I’m pretty sure is destined to be a Rock Star!)

During the session, we spent some time capturing photos with Lucy, Jasper and Oliver’s Grandma & Grandpa.  Molly and her family will be moving away from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area in September, so capturing their family together was at the top of the priority list.  I can’t wait to get going on the rest of your pics, Gravholt family.  Best of luck on your upcoming move to Washington D.C.!

Playdate: Berit & Gabe

I’m wrapping up my wonderful week of Fargo sessions.  My very last shoot was with a little someone I’d waiting to meet for quite some time…Berit!  Her mama is one of my very best friends.  Jill and I met during elementary school and have maintained a very special friendship over the years.  So, it was quite fitting that my last day in town was spent with her and her family.  At just 4 months, Berit (which means “gorgeous” or “splendid” in Scandinavian) did such a wonderful job in front of the camera.  She definitely has her mom’s smile!  Berit’s papa did a fantastic job assisting with the shoot (Chris…your idea to use the Pak ‘N’ Play mat was ingenious!)….and Grandma Melicher went above and beyond to keep her new granddaugter entertained during the session.  I also had the opportunity to snap a quick shot of Berit’s cousin, Gabe.  I can’t believe how quickly this little man is growing up!  Something tells me he’s going to be a heartbreaker.  It was so great to see the entire Melicher clan again.  Love ya, Jillers!

Play Date: Audrey & Lucy (LuLu)

It’s late, but I promised my friend Anne that I would get some photos posted tonight of her two little cuties…Audrey and Lucy.  We met up on Wednesday morning at Yunker Farm to capture some outdoor shots of the girls…then headed downtown for some colorful shots by my favorite new backdrop in Fargo.  Audrey and Lucy were so, so good!  (I still can’t get over how much they look like their pretty Mamma!)  I’ll start things off with this first photo…because I think it perfectly sums up how much my friend loves motherhood.

FYI…I will be back in Fargo for another round of sessions June 27th through July 1st.  I still have several openings available.  Those interested in booking a session can call 208-546-2510 for details.

Mafia Men: Chase & Ian

I’ve been in Fargo all week with a full line-up of shoots!  It’s been the perfect way to kick-start my busy Spring and Summer photography season.  When my friend Michelle contacted me on Monday to see if I could squeeze her boys in while I was in town…I jumped at the chance!  The first time I photographed Chase and Ian, I fell in love with them.  Now that they’re a little older, they’re personalities are really starting to emerge (as is evident by the following photos)!   I had so much fun chasing these little guys around the alleys of downtown Fargo for their gangster-themed shoot!  Can’t wait to catch up with these two little guys again at their uncle’s wedding this summer!
