Portraits in Duluth

Amanda Allard Photography 2011 Rewind

I know it’s almost March, but it’s never too late for a little love.  A big beautiful thank you to my amazing 2011 clients!  I traveled through 5 states to snap this year’s round up…and enjoyed every minute capturing these wonderful moments.

She Said Yes! Pascha + Abbot

I will always remember my time in Duluth, simply because it is where my photography business took root.   So…it seemed rather fitting that the very last thing I did before I left was capture the beautiful wedding of Pascha and Abbot at the Northland Country Club.  I said it at least a million times the day of the wedding, and I’m going to say it again…Pascha, you are simply stunning!  You and Abbot did such a magnificant job of planning an elegant and classy event for your closest friends and families.  It was truly an honor to capture every detail…including the Flower Cart’s refreshing summer centerpieces.   Thank you again for selecting me to capture your day.  I hope you are relishing your time together as a new family!

She Said Yes! Mollie + Mark

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of capturing the beautiful marriage of Mollie & Mark.  I absolutely adore this couple!  I met the two of them over 2 years ago when Mollie asked me to shoot their wedding.  I instantly knew that I would love working with these two!  And let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint!  We started the day off at Justin Paul Salon – in Downtown Duluth – where Mollie and her bridesmaids kicked off their morning.  Her nieces completely made my day as they ran around the salon with chocolate donuts in their hands and all over their faces.  Our next stop was the Bridal Suite at  Greysolon Plaza, where Mollie had her make-up applied by Derick Cich.  I absolutely LOVE this venue!  The huge windows in the suite provide perfect light for detail shots and preparation photos.  And the ballroom…is simply breathtaking.  Mollie & Mark’s ceremony took place St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Lakeside.  We took advantage of the location by making a quick stop at Lester River Park to capture some bridal portraits and group shots of their wedding party against the park’s lush, green backdrop.  (I ♥ Minnesota summers!  Especially after a week of rain.)  Mollie & Mark’s perfect day came to a close in Downtown Duluth.  Before making their grand entrance in the Greysolon Ballroom, we headed down to E Michigan Street to capture some images against a fun backdrop that I have been dying to use for over a year!

I am so thrilled that the two of you are finally “Mr.” & “Mrs.”!  Wishing you many years of wedded bliss together.

Class of 2012: Ashley

It’s my favorite time of year…SENIOR PORTRAIT SEASON!!  Let the madness begin!  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,  seniors are my absolute favorite subjects to photograph.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Ashley, a beautiful 2012 senior, on Thursday evening.  Not only is this girl drop dead gorgeous, but she’s as tough as nails!  We were working in a stiff lake breeze and unseasonably cool temps…and she didn’t even flinch!  Hopefully by this time next year, Ashley will be making her way South where she can enjoy the warmer weather.  Thank you again for selecting me to capture your grads, Ashley!  It was such a pleasure meeting you, your mom and CJ (the St. Bernard).  Best of luck on your senior year!

I’d like make a quick shout out to Fitger’s Inn for allowing us to use their baby grand piano.  (Ashley is a talented pianist with more than 12 years of playing experience.)

Published: Minnesota Bride

Exciting news!  I just found out that one of my 2010 weddings will be published in the Fall/Winter edition of Minnesota Bride Magazine.  The issue will hit book stores on August 1st.  I felt so privileged to be a part of Michael and Elizabeth’s wedding day.  Their wedding and reception took place at not one…but two historic Duluth venues…The Glensheen Mansion and The Kitchi Gammi Club.  Laura Mullen, of Laura Mullen Event Design, helped the bride and groom design a beautiful and sophisticated event which I will not soon forget.

Ironically, by the time the magazine rolls off the press I will no longer be a Minnesota photographer.  However, I’m SO excited about the photographic opportunities that lie ahead of me in the Boise metro area.  If you know anyone in the Treasure Valley who is interested in booking an upcoming wedding or session, I can be reached on my new Idaho digits:  208-564-2510.

Winter Wedding: Tom + Betsy

Last weekend I had the wonderful pleasure of shooting a wedding for one of my 2010 engagement couples…Tom & Betsy! The last time I met up with these two love birds was last fall…under a colorful canopy at the Bagley Nature Area.

After several months and a few feet of snow, I was so excited to reconnect with them again (and their families) at the Blackwoods Banquet Center.  They chose a picture-perfect winter day (8 degrees with light snow) to tie the knot!  We decided to keep things indoors due to a brisk wind.  However, we took advantage of the natural light pouring in through the center’s windows.

Tom & Betsy…you did such a fantastic job pulling together your beautiful day!  (We think you should go into wedding planning, Tom.)   Congratulations to you both…we wish you many years of happiness together!
